Yes, Jack, this is yet another fundraising email.

I know we send a lot of them. I also know that they aren't always filled with the most positive messages, but I always try to be honest with you about the status of Daily Kos.

So, in all honesty, will Daily Kos shutter our site next month if we don't reach our fundraising goal? No. We are a long way from that happening. However, will we have to make cuts that could jeopardize the quality of our content? Or the impact of our actions? Yes.

That fact is that in the face of lower than expected revenue, earlier this year, we were forced to make deep financial cuts and other changes. Throughout the year, more, smaller cuts have been made as we work to find a more financially sustainable footing. Our hope is that you didn't notice a huge change; the Daily Kos staff has been working diligently to continue to deliver the quality of news and actions you have come to expect from us.

The good news is that we are starting to see our revenue tick upwards. However, the bad news is that ads and some other revenue sources have continually missed their projections month after month. This is why it is so important that we reach our monthly fundraising goals.

That's why I am, again, asking for your help, Jack: We still need to raise $93,995 by the end of October. Please support Daily Kos's continued work with a donation of $5 or more today.
