Louisiana Republican and MAGA extremist Mike Johnson was just elected US House Speaker by his GOP peers as they finally concluded their seemingly endless infighting to find a McCarthy replacement. Although the House can finally get back to work, there’s no doubt under an extremist like Mike Johnson, House Republicans will try to thwart any meaningful legislation and progress, making it all the more critical that Democrats take back the House and restore its purpose to serve the American people.
Not only is Johnson inexperienced, his history with Trump and his close alignment to the MAGA platform is already posing a threat to the sanctity of Congress and our legislative process. He worked alongside Trump to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, consistently undermined access to safe and legal abortions, and opposes same-sex marriage equality. |
