We're Building an AI GPU Cluster To Model Cell Systems
AI has the potential to transform scientists’ understanding of health and disease. To accelerate progress, CZI is building one of the largest computing systems dedicated to nonprofit life science research in the world. Through this work, we’ll provide the scientific community with access to predictive models of healthy and diseased cells, so they can answer important scientific questions about how our cells work—opening avenues for discoveries to help cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of this century.
This fall, CZI launched a new biomedical research hub in New York City, the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York (CZ Biohub New York), that will catalyze collaboration between Columbia University, The Rockefeller University and Yale University to pursue grand scientific challenges on 10- to 15-year time horizons. Led by Andrea Califano, CZ Biohub New York will create new technologies to characterize and bioengineer immune cells — with the ultimate goal of creating disease-specific “cellular endoscopes” that can detect early stages of disease in cells, monitor cell changes, and resolve diseases before they become more severe or untreatable.
