After over three weeks of endless political theater, uncertainty, and partisan infighting, the GOP has finally elected their new House Speaker: Rep. Mike Johnson.

Let's start with the facts:

• Speaker Johnson played a pivotal role in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.


• He opposes abortion access and celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.


• He introduced legislation modeled after Florida's extreme, anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and opposes gender-affirming care for minors.


• He's one of Donald Trump's closest allies and served on his legal defense team during both of his impeachment trials.


• He has spearheaded budgets that gut Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security funding.

At a time when our government feels more divided than ever before, we need leaders who will work across the aisle in the spirit of bipartisanship to move the needle forward for the American people. Mike Johnson is not that kind of leader.
