Whenever conflicts between terrorist groups like Hamas and Israel erupt, incidents targeting Jewish communities around the world rise exponentially, including in the United States. This virtual program, led by Oren Jacobson of Project Shema, will focus explicitly on how antisemitism is showing up in public discourse around the war between Israel and Hamas. The conversation will not focus on Israeli policy and actions; rather, it will explore the impact on the Jewish community in the United States and empower attendees (members of the Jewish community and allies) to effectively stand up against antisemitic rhetoric and incidents.

About Project Shema: Project Shema is an independent nonprofit organization that trains and supports the Jewish community and allies to understand and address contemporary antisemitism, with an emphasis on how anti-Jewish ideas can emerge in discourse around Israel and Palestine. Founded by Jewish leaders with deep ties in social justice movements, Project Shema brings a fresh and humanizing approach to these challenging issues. Named after the Hebrew word Shema, which means “to hear”, “to listen”, or “understand,” Project Shema works to deepen understanding and build compassion and bridges across communities.
