Hi. It’s Roland Gutierrez, the Democrat running against Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate.

There’s a lot of talk in politics about bipartisanship and working across the aisle. Let me be clear: I’ll do everything I can to get things done.

But there is no amount of bipartisan incrementalism that I’m interested in. Because, in my view, that’s not actually getting anything done for us.

Republicans aren’t interested in bipartisanship — they’ll fight us every step of the way. So we’ve got to stand up to them and fight for what we believe in.

We cannot afford to compromise on our values in the name of phony bipartisanship.
