Jack, first, Steve Scalise withdrew his candidacy a day after being nominated due to internal dysfunction. Then, House Republicans rescinded Jim Jordan's nomination after he lost three floor votes. Next came Tom Emmer—but that only lasted a few hours.
That's three Republican speaker candidates in as many weeks that could not win a majority vote on the full House floor. Enough is enough already.

It has been three weeks since Republicans ousted Kevin McCarthy as speaker and the GOP still doesn't have a clear frontrunner or a real plan for moving forward. Meanwhile, Congress only has until Nov. 17 to avoid a costly government shutdown, but all House business has come to a standstill as the GOP continues their embarrassing spectacle.
Hakeem Jeffries has unanimous support from all House Democrats. Back in January 2023, Jeffries got more votes than McCarthy 11 times (you may remember, it took McCarthy 15 votes to be elected). Last week, Jeffries got more votes than Jim Jordan in all three ballots. Yes, Republicans are in such disarray that despite having the majority, they have had to hold 18 votes for speaker this year...so far.
It would take just five House Republicans making a deal with Democrats to end MAGA's manufactured mess. That's fewer votes than Scalise and Jordan needed to win. It's time for so-called moderate Republicans to end this circus.
