Every one of us has been affected by the drug war in one way or another.
Some of us have lost loved ones to overdose. Others have seen communities destroyed or their family members locked away. And we have all been taxed to pay for the $1 trillion (and counting!) bill to wage the war on drugs.
Across the country, people are realizing that there is a better way. And as a member of the Drug Policy Alliance, you can help turn this tide in attitude into powerful action.
Our movement is powered by people. That’s why I am so proud of every one of our card-carrying DPA members who have taken a stand against the drug war.
At a moment when powerful pundits and politicians are demonizing those who use drugs — and blaming drug policy reform for all of society’s ills — DPA members are paving a different path.
We are recognizing the full humanity of people, regardless of our relationship to drugs. And as a result, we know that locking people up simply because they use drugs does not solve for what lies at the root of the problem.
