Message from Ted

__Dear VCC Community,

The manipulation and separation of humanity increased exponentially this
week with the hostilities in Israel and Gaza. This is the latest of a
series of strategies to pit one sector of society against the other and
keep us distracted and divided. The psychological weaponization of care and
compassion has shifted from vaccination to Russia and Ukraine, and now
Israel and Hamas.

What is missing in all of this is thoughtful discourse and a willingness to
look beyond the images being projected on our TV screens and laptops, and
ask the question – Are we being played? Who is pulling our strings? Who
benefits when humanity focuses on each other as the enemy? The false
narratives on both "sides" allows the moneyed interests, the military
industrial complex, and the corollaries to continue to benefit from
violence and war. I suggest we need to identify the correct enemy, and
it’s not each other.

Vincent Gircys, in his career with the Ontario Provincial Police, conducted
forensic analysis of accidents to determine the probable cause. Vincent
learned that his analysis had to be based on solid evidence or it would not
withstand the test of cross examination. Opinions were meaningless unless
based on a solid foundation of facts. He also learned that the process of
cross examination is how truth is revealed and that we should welcome cross
examination.

This same principle holds true for the ideas and ideologies present today.
Can they withstand the test of cross examination? Are they based on facts
strong enough to withstand the rigors of debate? The problem is that debate
is no longer allowed. There is no opportunity for cross examination.
Instead, we are to accept the presented narrative because to do otherwise
is to invite shaming, shunning, and censorship.

I remember a time in my youth when my extended family would have rousing
and robust discussions around the kitchen table. Voices were raised and
passions aroused, and in so doing, ideas got tested, and arguments refined
or revisited. I suggest we need more of this, not less. The human condition
is complex and complicated, and our perceptions and ideologies need the
refinement of cross examination. We need to learn to tolerate debate,
challenge, and some cross examination, otherwise they will keep us in a
constant state of war.

PROTECT PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING CAMPAIGN

A collaboration by the Canadian Covid Care Alliance and the Mama Bears
Project has brought together an international panel of experts to launch
this campaign, creating a resource guide on COVID-19, mRNA vaccines and the
safety and ethics of their use by pregnant and breastfeeding women. The
campaign seeks to educate and empower women to make informed choices for
themselves and their babies. Deanna McLeod HBSc and Mary Sharpe RM, PhD
will join us to talk about the campaign.

Deanna is an expert in evidence-based data analysis and medical
publications peer review. She is chair of the strategic advisory committee
at the Canadian Covid Care Alliance. Mary is a registered midwife and
associate professor in the Midwifery Education Program at Toronto
Metropolitan University. She supports undisturbed pregnancy, birth, and
lactation and is an advocate for informed choice and the precautionary
principle.

Barbara Loe Fisher and the
National Vaccine Information Centre

Barbara Loe Fisher is co-founder and president of the National Vaccine
Information Center (NVIC), a non-profit charity she founded with parents of
vaccine injured children in 1982 to prevent vaccine injuries and deaths
through public education. For the past four decades, she has led a
national, grassroots movement and public information campaign to institute
vaccine safety and informed consent protections in public health policies
and laws. She is a researcher, author, consumer advocacy expert and the

A continuation of the six ways
I fed my negative wolf. 

Delaying Happiness

One of the ways I fed my negative wolf was to delay my happiness. I
would regularly make statements as: “I’ll be happy when . . .” I’ll
be happy when ………the weekend comes.
.…….. I get a job.
.…….. I’m on holidays.
….….. I retire.
.…….. I get married.
.…….. I get divorced.
.…….. I have children.
.…….. the children leave home.
.…….. the mortgage is paid off.
.…….. I win the lottery.

When I make these statements I am essentially declaring, _“I’m not
happy now,”_ and _“I’ll be happy some time in the future.”_ I’ve
discovered that this way of thinking doesn’t serve me well. It doesn’t
increase my happiness. Instead it delays my happiness. It convinces me I
need something other than what I have in order to be happy. It removes
happiness from my present and places it in my future.

Even on those occasions when the items on my list finally occurred, I
noticed my happiness would be short lived. It’s because a new item would
quickly replace the now acquired item on my list. I realized that my
unhappiness was due to my thinking rather than an absence of items or
events. When I acted as though happiness was something to be acquired in
the future I never experienced happiness in a lasting, meaningful way. It
continued to elude me. I now accept that my happiness isn’t dependent
upon acquiring things or events. It’s not about the job, retirement,
getting married, getting divorced, winning the lottery, or my son’s
health. It’s a fallacy to think happiness comes from things or events.
