Michael Cohen’s bombshell testimony, Jenna Ellis’ plea deal, and Tom Emmer goes down in flames
A BIG domino falls in Trump’s Georgia RICO case
Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis and her team got another huge win Tuesday when Jenna Ellis became the latest lawyer of Donald Trump’s to plead guilty over efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Standing before the court, Ellis sobbed as she read a statement to court expressing regret, apologizing for the harm she had caused to the people of Georgia. It’s clear that Rudy Giuliani is in even bigger trouble now. Ellis reportedly spent a lot of time with him. And Daily Kos’ Laura Clawson explores who might be the next domino to fall.
Breaking news: Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows flips, reportedly making a deal to testify against Trump. On a day when Trump was already facing a raft of flippers, this is the big one.
Michael Cohen testified in New York
Donald Trump was back in New York for the civil fraud trial where his former fixer/attorney Michael Cohen dropped a bombshell, testifying that he and Allan Weisselberg inflated Trump Organization asset values to “whatever number” Trump wanted.
And if Donald Trump didn’t have his hands full with these court cases, his legal team dropped four midnight filings in the D.C. District Court of Judge Tanya Chutkan. The motions ask the judge to dismiss various aspects of the case related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election.
Rep. Tom Emmer stepped up to take his turn at being humiliated by his own party
Republicans again went behind closed doors in an effort to find anyone who could get 217 votes to become the next House speaker. Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer emerged at the top of the pile and then was immediately knifed by Donald Trump during a court recess for lunch:

And with that, Emmer pulled the plug and stepped away from the white-hot spotlight of humiliation. Who will be the next to step up and get their head lopped off? Stay tuned!
