It’s been 21 days since Republicans kicked out their Speaker. Let’s take a look back.
The GOP’s first pick was Steve Scalise, who withdrew after 24 hours because the self-described ‘David Duke without the baggage’ didn’t have the support to win.
The next choice for Speaker was Jim Jordan, a 2020 election denier and Trump cheerleader, who lost 3 rounds of votes on the House floor because colleagues were turned off by the death threats they were getting from his supporters.
This afternoon, Tom Emmer became the nominee — even though far-right extremists don’t like him for supporting gay marriage and certifying Biden’s election.
About 4 hours later, Emmer dropped out. Chaos.
The ‘far left’ and the ‘far right’ are often compared, but while MAGA Republicans dismantle their party with extremism, Alexandria is fighting for universal healthcare, a $15 minimum wage and other just policies. Will you make a $5 contribution today to power her campaign for real progress?
