The news just broke: Georgia's Supreme Court voted to UPHOLD the state's dangerous, cruel abortion ban. Here's the simple truth: pregnant bodies are less safe in states with abortion bans. This ban will endanger the lives of Georgians. Period.
Black women in Georgia are more than twice as likely to die during and after pregnancy, and the state has one of the highest overall rates of maternal mortality in the nation. When Republicans like the ones who wrote, passed, and argued in court for this ban call themselves "pro-life," they are lying.
It's easy to feel hopeless when our fundamental rights are destroyed. But there is a way to fight back. We can elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot, in Georgia and everywhere, who will protect our rights and GROW our freedom — instead of limiting it.
