‌John,

Well… we are at day 21 without a speaker and Republicans are now on their fourth round of Speaker elections (first Scalise, then Jordan, then Emmer...). Yep, Emmer lasted less than a day.

I’ve had a front row seat to all the drama, and it’s genuinely as bad as it seems on TV. Republicans have lost control of their caucus to a few extremists and it’s truly embarrassing for our democracy.

I can’t do much to convince Republican extremists to back down (I’ve tried… it doesn’t work). But I sure as heck can make sure Democrats take back Congress next year.

Please, if you can, send in a donation today to help us hold this toss-up seat. I’ll leave a link here: [[link removed]]

Ok, here is the latest update on the Speaker’s race:

After three rounds of voting last week, Tea Party darling Jim Jordan had to withdraw from the race. I voted against him all three times and was ready to go as many rounds as it took to prevent that brand of extremism from becoming Speaker.

Today, after 24 hours of closed-door meetings and elections, Republicans nominated Tom Emmer as the next candidate. But before they could bring it to a House vote, Emmer dropped out of the race because Trump came out against him. So here we are, back to square one, where it seems very unclear if anyone will be able to get the necessary 217 votes.

We will have to see how this all plays out because it feels like the GOP is never going to be able to get it together. This is yet another example of why we have to win this competitive race and take back the House in 2024.

That’s why I’m asking you to please send in a donation to my campaign today. Here is the link again: [[link removed]]

I'll keep you in the loop...

- Josh
