During my recent town hall in New Hampshire, an 18-year-old asked me what message I had for him and people in his generation about the upcoming election.
First, let’s look at it from a younger person’s point of view. My kids are 22 and 25. They want to be a part of something bigger. They want to be a part of something that they can make a difference in.
That’s what we want. That’s actually what’s needed to heal our country.
They care about different issues. They’re bigger on environmental issues because they want a future, and they want to know it’s going to be there.
But guess what—we want clean air and clean water too. So, let’s start talking to them about that!
Let’s show them ways to get involved. Rather than ignoring them, let’s include them in the solutions.
Let’s talk to them about the future of jobs. Let’s talk to them about how none of them know how they’re going to afford a home. Let’s talk to them about the fact that they go to college with all of these student loans, but no one ever sits down with them and tells them what they’re signing when they get that loan, and no one tells them how to pay it back.
If we talk with them about the issues they care about and include them in the solutions, I know they can do so much more than we ever could imagine.
Now here’s my message to the younger generations:
We need you.
On every issue you have a concern, I will be there to answer your question.
What I can promise you is we may not always agree on everything, but you are going to be on my mind every day, because we owe you that.
I think about you when I think about the debt and the fact that y'all are never going to forgive us for what has happened.
I think about you when I think about education. You shouldn’t have to be worried about what you can say in the classroom or what you believe on a college campus.
I think about you when I think about how so many of you have no idea how you’ll ever buy a home when they’re as expensive as they are.
I think about you when I think about crime and when I look at the border. I want you to live in a country that’s safe and secure.
And what I want you to know is that I will spend my last breath trying to protect you, and trying to make sure you have a better life than we did. Because you deserve it.
We have a country to save, and it will take all of us working together to get it done.
As our campaign catches fire, people from all backgrounds and generations are joining our team. We’re already seeing incredible numbers of students and young Americans getting involved in schools across the country, and the number is growing by the day.
I’m running for president because our kids deserve better. I want my kids and our future generations to experience what the American Dream has to offer.
My name is Nikki Haley. I want to tell you a bit about myself and why I’m running for President of the United States.
I’m running for President because my parents came to America more than 50 years ago – an America that was strong and proud, and full of opportunities. I want them to know that America again.
I’m running for President as a military spouse. My husband is deployed and I want him and his military brothers and sisters to know their sacrifice means something – that we do love this country.
I’m running for President for the future of our kids. I have a daughter who just got married and I saw how hard it was for her and her husband to buy a home. I’m doing this for my son who’s a senior in college and shouldn’t have to worry about saying things on a paper that he doesn’t believe in just to get an A.
I’m running for my daughter, my son, and our future generations. I want them to experience the freedom and opportunity that the American Dream has to offer.
I’m running for President because we have a country to save!
I’ve seen that even on our worst days, we are blessed to live in America. But I also know that under Biden’s leadership, times are tough, our future is slipping, and America can be doing so much better.
As governor, I was dubbed a “jobs governor” because I slashed our unemployment rate, brought jobs back to our state, and shepherded in a successful economic recovery.
At the UN I fought for America, made sure our allies knew we had their backs, and stood up to murderers and dictators to let them know that America was taking names.
I know how to make America strong and proud because I’ve done it before. And I’ll do it as your next President.
As President, I’ll revitalize our economy, support small businesses, stop Washington’s spending sprees, protect our border, champion school choice, and save America’s future.
