Jack, Tuesday was a big night for primaries—and not just for president!

The first battleground state Senate primary was Tuesday night in North Carolina, and state Sen. Cal Cunningham is officially the Democratic nominee—and Daily Kos readers just gave him a big head start in his race to defeat Trump tool Sen. Thom Tillis. How big? $126,898.81 big! How'd we do it so fast? Here's how:

Our good friends at ActBlue have set up Democratic nominee funds in every one of this year's Senate battleground states. These funds will collect contributions from readers like you and hold the money in escrow until that state holds its primary and picks a Democratic candidate to take on a vulnerable Republican incumbent this fall. Then they'll transfer the funds en masse to that Democrat.

Last year, Daily Kos set up a page where readers could quickly and easily chip in to any or all of the races in states our endorsements team has identified as top target Senate races. The eight races they've identified will make or break Mitch McConnell's majority this fall, and we've slowly but surely been gathering support here—we're up to more than $1.2 million raised so far!

No matter who you voted for president this Tuesday, no Democratic president can accomplish their agenda or undo the damage Trump has inflicted so long as Moscow Mitch McConnell remains Senate majority leader.

We absolutely must take back the Senate this fall. Please take one minute right now to chip in $1 to each of the seven Democratic nominee funds in the remaining target states that have not yet held their primaries. Every dollar you donate to a fund will go directly to the Democratic nominee once they've won their primary.

Here are the remaining seven states our endorsements team has identified as Senate battlegrounds:
  • ARIZONA (special election): The death of Sen. John McCain has triggered a special election in Arizona, which in 2018 elected a Democrat to the Senate for the first time since 1988. Martha McSally, the Republican who lost that 2018 race, was appointed to McCain's old seat by the state's Republican governor and is running again in 2020, giving Democrats the chance to beat her twice in a row.

  • COLORADO: GOP Sen. Cory Gardner was first elected to the Senate in 2014 and is arguably the most vulnerable Republican seeking re-election this fall.

  • TEXAS: Democrats have dreamed of winning Texas for a generation, and came tantalizingly close in 2018, when Beto O'Rourke came just three points shy of taking out odious Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. Democrats surged up and down the ballot in 2018, and have the opportunity to finally turn the state blue in 2020.

  • IOWA: Right-wing first-term Sen. Joni Ernst is seeking re-election and has already threatened to impeach Joe Biden if he's elected president.

  • GEORGIA and GEORGIA (special election): That's right, there are two Senate elections in Georgia this fall. First, incumbent Republican Sen. David Perdue—a reliable Trump-McConnell lackey, who first won in 2014—is running his first re-election campaign. But he's not the only Republican senator on the ballot.

Second, Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson resigned for health reasons last year. Georgia's Republican governor appointed right-wing mega-donor Kelly Loeffler to replace him, and she is running in a special election this fall to finish the term.

  • MAINE: Longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins has made a career out of talking like a moderate but voting like a right-winger, but the act's up in 2020. Her approval ratings tanked after she voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She doubled down this year in voting to acquit Donald Trump, and now faces the toughest (and hopefully last) election of her career.
Democrats need to take back the Senate if we're going to undo the damage Donald Trump has inflicted on the country. Click here to chip in $1 to each of these must-win Senate races.
