In 2021 and 2022, the Democratic majority in Congress allowed us to pass major legislation that invested in every aspect of the U.S. economy and reduced Americans’ daily expenses.
Even though the House is at a standstill, waiting for Republican members to elect a Speaker, the fruits of our legislative successes during the previous session of Congress continue to pay off nationwide.
→ 19.5 million low-income Americans are saving an average of $30 monthly on their internet subscription through the Affordable Connectivity Program.
→ 13 million Americans are saving an average of $800 annually on their health insurance premiums.
→ 42,070 New Yorkers have received an average of $5,000 in student loan relief.
→ Small Business Administration loans to Black-owned businesses have doubled due to the expanded Community Advantage Program.
These are just four data points out of hundreds that I could share to demonstrate that when Democrats are in the majority, everyday Americans benefit. And we were just getting started.
When we win back the House in 2024, we will work every day to build on our success. We will fight to expand student loan relief, protect reproductive rights, and continue to lower costs for families’ everyday expenses.
