John, It’s no secret that book bans in schools and public libraries are on the rise across the country. As radical organizations force their personal preferences onto others, their efforts have even led to physical threats against librarians, simply for doing their job. Connecticut is no exception. Last June, the Newtown Board of Education nearly banned two books from its high school library. In the end, the book-banners were only blocked by the votes of Democrats on the Board, and the sudden resignation of two Board Republicans. Our kids’ access to books shouldn’t hinge on chance. Show the extremists that we won’t stand for book bans here. Make a contribution to your CT Dems today. |
This is why the upcoming election is so critical. School board members can either be the last line of defense for this most basic right—or they are part of the national assault on our freedoms. The choice is ours.
Democrats will protect your rights and ensure that Connecticut doesn’t join a sadly growing list of states banning books, closing libraries, firing teachers, and diminishing our children’s education.
Please donate today to help elect sensible Democratic leaders to School Boards, and offices up and down the ballot who will hold the line for our freedoms.
Thank you in advance for your generous support! Sarah Locke Executive Director |
P.S. Don’t forget–Election Day is Nov. 7th!
