Hi friend,
Senate Bill 253, the most impactful climate law in the nation in 2023, is a policy we sponsored, championed, and fought for these past three years.
While so many people and organizations were involved in this success, California Environmental Voters was proud to lead the effort to achieve this internationally impactful milestone.
Friend, we wanted to share with you a timeline of the actions EnviroVoters and our dedicated members took these last three years to convince the California Legislature and Governor to turn this groundbreaking policy into law. Read more here >>

Friend, we are so proud to say that we have been in this fight since day one, when SB 253 was first introduced as SB 260 in 2021.
Whether it was recruiting co-sponsors and supporters, leading grassroots advocacy efforts, or even electing new climate champions who would support the bill, EnviroVoters was there every step of the way.
Because of SB 253, the largest U.S.-based corporations will finally be required to publicly disclose ALL of their greenhouse gas pollution — from resource extraction all the way until disposal.
And what’s most powerful about this new policy is that the data can be leveraged for policy change globally!
SB 253, along with its partner bill SB 261, will be setting a new standard for corporate climate accountability and transparency for the entire nation and the world. California passing this policy will open the floodgates for other countries to follow suit!

Thank you for your partnership in this fight.
