The effects of Storm Babet over the past few days have been significant and our thoughts are with all those people across the wider county who have been affected – some of whom were forced to leave their homes as water levels rose.
Our teams worked closely with Nottinghamshire County Council colleagues and local emergency services partners throughout Friday and over the weekend to enact local flood plans and offer our support. We will continue to do that in the coming days with further rainfall forecast. As a number of flood alerts remain in place across the wider region, I would ask residents to take caution when travelling and to take steps to avoid dangerous situations and help our emergency services by:
-
Monitoring weather forecasts, sign up to flood alerts and warnings here
-
Respecting flood warnings and road closure signs
-
Stay away from swollen rivers and flood water
-
Keep children and pets away from swollen rivers and flood water
For more information and updates and to sign up for flood alerts from the Environment Agency visit here and you can also keep an eye on the council social media channels:
There remains some lingering travel disruption in Nottingham that people should be aware of:
-
Queens Drive Park & Ride is flooded and won’t be open until the water has subsided and a clean-up and safety check has taken place.
-
NCT Navy 49/B will operate to the regular timetable, serving all stops except the Park & Ride Site. Alternative NCT Park & Ride to the city centre is available at the Racecourse site (NG2 4BE).
-
Medilink is operating as usual but won’t serve Queens Drive. Park & Ride facilities are available at Wilkinson Street.
-
East Midlands Railway – Check before you travel via train as flooding is causing ongoing disruption
-
Planned tram maintenance – NET trams are carrying out two planned maintenance projects this week.
-
Middle Hill – no service between Old Market Square and Nottingham Station. Normal service resumes from tomorrow (Wednesday)
-
Cator Lane Repair Work – 28 Oct to 3 Nov – No tram service between the University of Nottingham and Cator Lane, affecting Toton Lane and Hucknall services only. A dedicated bus replacement service will operate between Toton Lane and the University of Nottingham, also stopping near all closed tram stops

Light Night will be held next year on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 February. Are you a Nottingham creator or artist who would like to be involved?
We're inviting proposals from Nottingham cultural institutions, not-for-profit organisations, religious buildings, schools and individual artists to participate in the event. You can be involved either working independently or as a part of a collective.
You can participate by proposing an event or installation somewhere in the city centre, hosting in your own venue, or submitting a proposal for one of our funded artistic commissions.
