A recent article in the New York Times highlighted a terrifying fossil fuel industry fact: ‘Monster Fracks’ are getting far bigger and far thirstier.
These complex fracking wells are resource-gobbling, polluting monsters. They require huge amounts of water to fracture the bedrock and release fossil fuels – putting our food, water, and climate under constant assault.
Today is Climate Action Day, and we’re determined to expand our fight against ghoulish fracking schemes and fossil fuel polluters.
Fracking is a dangerous method of extracting oil and gas that escalates climate change and pollution. Drilling and fracking bring water contamination, air pollution, earthquakes, and massive amounts of methane leakage.
Despite these catastrophic impacts, the US exported record highs of oil and gas in the first half of 2023. If this trend continues, we could maintain our position as the world’s largest producer.
This reality might seem too big and scary, but Food & Water Action is not backing down because we know that people power wins.
Our approach is bold, uncompromising, and hard-hitting – and it works. We’re pushing for legislation to ban fracking, transition to 100% renewable energy, and fight the climate crisis. But to do it, we need your ongoing support now more than ever, John.
Food & Water Action and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Watch, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
