Stop me if you’ve heard this before: “Congress is out of touch.”

I hear people say this all the time on the campaign trail. I’ve said it more than a few times myself over the years.

Well, now that I’m running for Congress, I don’t want to do things the old-fashioned way. I want to devote every ounce of my energy to work on the issues you care about most.

So, John, I’m asking you one question: What issue do you care about most right now?

I read about members of Congress who have gone months without a single public event.

That doesn’t fly here.  As Assemblymember, City Councilmember, and City Attorney, the people I represented were my neighbors. People would come up with questions and concerns on the sidewalk, the coffee shop, and the grocery store. I held hundreds of community meetings.

In fact, one of my favorite aspects of public service is connecting, personally, with the people I serve.  

Most of us, regardless of age, background, or ideology, want leaders who are responsive, accessible, and honest. If you honor me with your support, I will run my office that way again--as your Congressman.

But as hard as I try, I can’t speak to every single CA-30 voter in-person. That’s where the online surveys come in. Can you take a minute and let me know what issues you care about most right now? Share your thoughts →
