FOR OVER 110 YEARS, ADVANCING THE RIGHTS AND LIVES OF REFUGEES AND IMMIGRANTS

225 LAPTOPS DONATED TO UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN

This back-to-school season, USCRI’s Children Services team conducted a laptop drive and was able to purchase 225 laptops to give to unaccompanied children. This will help the children complete school assignments, enroll in online ESL classes, or complete their GED. USCRI staff delivered these laptops and helped the youth and their families set them up, setting these students up for success.

With the school year now underway, the Children’s Services team will continue to support children’s development and integration into their communities by providing funds for extracurricular activities and supplemental education costs.

Now through the end of October, USCRI is asking for donations to help purchase and deliver period products for girls in Kenyan refugee camps.

There are 90,580 school-aged girls living in refugee camps in Kenya. They have fled violence and persecution in search of safety and a chance to build a future. Yet this is often threatened when they get their period, as most do not have access to period products. This impacts every part of their lives, from their health to their ability to attend school.

Your gift provides vital menstrual hygiene products to girls in these refugee camps.

This helps her stay healthy, stay in school, stay dreaming. Period.

GREECE REPORT COMING SOON

Photos by Aaron Nodjomian-Escajeda

These photos come from a field visit that USCRI Policy Analyst Aaron Nodjomian-Escajeda conducted in September 2023 to asylum-seeker welcome centers in Greece. So far, in 2023, nearly 200,000 people have crossed the Mediterranean in search of asylum in Europe, and over 2,500 have died or gone missing in the process. An in-depth report detailing all findings from the visit will be published next month.
