NEW | WILL Unveils New Teacher Resources to Break the Status Quo in Education

WILL's Restoring American Education initiative (RAE)—alongside award-winning Wisconsin educator and Thomas B. Fordham Institute Policy Associate, Daniel Buck—released a new roadmap for educators to help achieve strong educational outcomes for Wisconsin students. 

Out of the Echo Chamber: Alternative Prep Materials for the American Educator seeks to compile a “canon of traditionalist thought in education” and provide an alternative to a broken status quo in American education. 

🗯 Daniel Buck, stated, “Walking into a classroom my first year of teaching, I experienced less a transition shock and more a ‘disgraceful lack of preparation shock.’ My teacher preparations gave insignificant time to classroom management, curricular construction, or grading, but we are here to change that, and I am proud to partner with the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty in distributing significant and helpful resources to America’s classrooms.”

UPDATE | WILL Holds Bureaucrats Accountable at Hearing

WILL Attorney, Cory Brewer, argued in support of parents and schools in our lawsuit against the Department of Public Instruction last week. ⚖️

DPI adopted an unlawful rule requiring absolute perfection in school choice applications. This is an act of bureaucratic overreach.

School choice should make it as easy as possible for parents to have educational options for their kids—bureaucrats should not create additional burdens in order for eligible families to participate.

NEW | Efforts by UW System to Rebrand DEI Initiatives & Conceal Information from Taxpayers 

WILL has uncovered new efforts by the University of Wisconsin System to rebrand and move Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) positions and initiatives despite pressure from Wisconsin lawmakers and a new Supreme Court ruling requiring UW to treat all students and staff equally regardless of race. 

WILL is calling on Wisconsin’s largest higher education system to follow the law and treat all students and staff equally. 

🗯 WILL Deputy Counsel, Dan Lennington, stated, “UW’s DEI system must be dismantled immediately. Students go to college to learn, not to be divided based on race and ideology, but that’s what exactly the University System intends to do. WILL is demanding answers, including additional documents as part of our open records request. WILL is also calling on the UW system to end its discriminatory practices and disavow this obvious attempt to rebrand DEI and conceal the efforts from taxpayers.” 

OP-ED | School ignored, overruled my parental rights

Earlier this month, the court ruled in our favor and in support of parental rights, holding that the Kettle Moraine School District violated parents’ constitutional rights to raise their own children.

The Wisconsin Constitution recognizes the right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their child. Parents, not the government, get to make decisions about their child's health care and wellbeing."
