Hi John, 1.5 billion. I know that we’re almost becoming immune to big numbers these days, but still … $1.5 billion. How many students could that help? How many failing schools could be put on the right track? How many … Well, never mind all that. Texas House Republicans think the best use of $1.5 billion is to build a border wall. I remember when a different Republican said he would build a border wall. So for those who think a border wall is a good idea, rather than a racist, anti-immigrant dog whistle, maybe that guy should pay for it. For those of us living here in reality, $1.5 billion could do a lot to help our state — starting with public education. Texas House Republicans have a rabid base to answer to, so maybe they have to propose stupid ideas like this. The rest of us, however — the majority of Texans — don’t have to go along. We here at Mothers Against Greg Abbott aren’t going along. And we need your help to fight back. |
