Folks —
Before coming to Congress, I spent my entire adult life as a labor activist, fighting to get hardworking people the pay and safe working conditions they deserve.
I fought alongside firefighters, first responders, meatpackers, and grocery store workers to ensure they had the power to collectively bargain for better wages and benefits.
From teachers to autoworkers and even writers in Hollywood, the power of organized labor has been on full display as workers come together to win the contracts they deserve. But we need to do more for our workers.
Just last month, without notice or recourse, U.S. Steel pink-slipped hundreds of workers at the blast furnaces at its Granite City plant, blaming the “softening demand from the automotive industry during the United Auto Workers strike.”
No company should be allowed to lay off their employees without notice, and I will never stop fighting in Congress until working-class people across our country have the protections they deserve.
Will you show your support for my efforts to stand with workers and protect the hardworking families of Illinois by adding your name below? [go.nikkiforcongress.com/a/njb-support-workers]

Hardworking folks like the workers at the U.S. Steel plant are the backbone of our economy. Thank you for standing with me in this critical fight as we work to protect them.
