Jack, I want to share with you some numbers: In July we beat our fundraising goal by 1.75 %, in August we beat it by 1.65%, in September we beat our goal by just 0.49%. With days left, we still need to raise $120,013, 31.97% to reach our October fundraising goal. To say I am worried about this downward fundraising trend is an understatement.

It is important we reach these goals because, this year in particular, Daily Kos has become more dependent on our community fundraising efforts in order to pay our bills.

The reason is that Daily Kos relies on three sources of revenue: community fundraising, advertising, and list building. Unfortunately, over the past few years we have seen both advertising and list building revenue continually lag behind projections, making us more dependent on donations from our community to cover our operating expenses.
