to discuss her recent paper that provides a closer understanding of the
value of community health workers' (CHWs') voices, social risk factors,
and how structural racism shapes CHWs' approach to intervention delivery
in structurally vulnerable communities.

Tomorrow, be on the lookout for a new episode of A Health Podyssey
featuring Zachary Dyer of University of Massachusetts.

Medicaid Expansion and Uninsurance in Redlined Areas

In the October 2023 issue of Health Affairs, Jason Semprini investigates
the differential impacts of Medicaid expansion by exposure to redlining
.

After categorizing census tracts by the degree of redlining that
occurred in them, Semprini and coauthors conclude that tracts with the
highest rates of historical redlining had the highest proportion of the
population without insurance as of 2014.

However, Medicaid expansion pursuant to the Affordable Care Act that
took effect in 2014 had the greatest impact on lowering uninsurance
rates in census tracts with the highest level of redlining.

For more on this paper, watch a video abstract

featuring author Jason Semprini below!
