Dear Friend of MCV,

Holding our elected officials accountable for the votes they take each year is a cornerstone of our work here at Maine Conservation Voters. That’s why we publish our Environmental Scorecard: to bring Maine people into the work happening at the State House in Augusta and let you know how your legislators voted on bills and policies that affect the environment, climate, communities, and democracy.

Today we're excited to present our legislative scorecard for 2023! Click here to see how your legislators and lawmakers all across Maine stack up >> [[link removed]]

This session, we built momentum for climate action, environmental justice and equity, a healthy democracy, and protections for wildlife and our treasured outdoor heritage. The majority of this work was possible thanks to broad-based, intersectional coalitions. Together with partners, we are advocating for bold and transformative policies – policies that, because of thoughtful conversations and deliberations, and advocacy from supporters like you, are becoming a reality for Maine.

We joined with labor organizations to pass a bill to jumpstart a responsible offshore wind industry for Maine, advocated to protect the rights of Maine towns to take action for their clean energy futures, continued to work with our friends in the Wabanaki Alliance to build momentum for tribal sovereignty and self-determination, and so much more.

This year, 91 lawmakers earned the title of "Conservation Champion" having scored a full 100% on every vote we scored. Unfortunately, 66 lawmakers scored ZERO — voting against bills that protect our environment, democracy, and communities.

Take a minute to see how your lawmakers scored in 2023 [[link removed]] — then please forward this email to your friends and family so they know, too.

Thank you for standing with us as we face consequential threats, seize historic opportunities, and hold our elected officials accountable for their votes. Together, we are bending the arc toward justice and a thriving environment, climate, and democracy in Maine.

With hope and gratitude,
