John,
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell likes to refer to himself as the grim reaper.
Perhaps he should since his legislative inaction is costing Americans their lives.
More than 150 days ago, the House of Representatives passed a bipartisan bill to expand background checks. That bill has been languishing in the Senate. McConnell refuses to bring it up for a vote, despite overwhelming public support.
Now, the Senate is on August recess. We’re demanding McConnell call them back to session to address this crisis>>
Our strategy is clear: Compel McConnell to bring the Senate back and pass the bills already passed by the House and supported by 97%+ of the country! The “grim reaper” can save lives with just one Senate roll call!
The ball is entirely in his court. If he truly cared about our country, he would bring the Senate back, vote on the bills gathering dust in front of them, and pass them in an hour.
But instead, he’s happy to be the grim reaper.
John, take a moment right now and send him a message. The Senate must come back from recess and vote on gun violence prevention legislation.
We’re going to win this fight, but we’ll only be able to do it by making our voices heard.
Thank you,
Mark
P.S. Just hours after the El Paso shooting, McConnell tweeted a photo of tombstones bearing the names of his political opponents. This will not end America’s gun violence epidemic, but, united we will!
