Being a freshman congressman comes with a lot of unexpected surprises, John.

An example of a bad surprise is just how extreme the House GOP has become. Seriously, nothing can prepare you for the first time you see that on the House Floor.

But one of the best surprises has been my housemate — yes, you read that right — California Rep. and fellow Democrat Robert Garcia.

Both Robert and I are up for re-election next year, so we need to do our part defending our seats to help flip the House blue in 2024. Can you split a donation between his campaign and mine to help us take back the House majority?

I couldn’t ask for a better housemate, John. He even came out to the annual Congressional Baseball Game to cheer on me and our fellow Democrats.

But even more than that, Robert is a fierce fighter for CA-42, and has spent more than a decade serving Californians in elected office.

Like me, he’s a staunch supporter of workers’ rights and Medicare for All, and he’s put working families at the center of his policymaking.

As mayor of Long Beach, CA, he worked to expand opportunities and protections for unions and fought to increase the minimum wage for laborers, and he worked with local businesses to help reduce environmental impacts.

So here’s the deal: Taking back the House next year is going to require more than just flipping a few seats from red to blue. We also need to defend blue seats like ours. Will you please split a donation between Rep. Garcia’s campaign and mine to help us keep CA-42 and KY-03 solid blue?
