Dear Georgian,

After the tumultuous few weeks we've had in Washington, discernment is critical now more than ever for our democracy. The divisions in Congress have put us on the verge of a Constitutional crisis, and I ask that you join me in prayer for all of our lawmakers as we determine who can lead and govern honorably.

Last week, I supported and voted for Rep. Jim Jordan to be the Speaker of the House. Now that he has withdrawn from the race, I am running again to be the Speaker of the House.

Our nation and Congress need healing, and I believe I can lead us through that process so that our government can serve the people's best interests.

If Republicans are going to be the majority, we need to act like the majority, and that means we have to do the right things the right way. I am running to create a Congress that functions properly and to ensure that power is shared.

I believe that a tremendous amount of power has shifted from the individual members to the office of the Speaker. This has created a scenario where small groups are allowed to negotiate individual priorities on major pieces of legislation. This power-based approach to governing only ends with Republicans in the minority.

Our goal, and our duty, is to make Congress function, and to do so, we have to rebalance power and work together.

I intend to shift power away from the Speaker's office back to individual members and their respective committees. I believe in the committee process, and the only way we can govern as a majority, based on principle and not power, is to respect the committee process.

We live in the greatest country on Earth, and I am honored to represent the greatest district in America.

No matter what happens this week, I will never stop fighting for our district and for Georgia's small businesses, agriculture, and defense communities. I will also support any nominee that our conference selects for Speaker, just as I supported former nominees Scalise and Jordan.

We owe it to our nation to work together in our country's best interest, and I will always prioritize what I believe is best for our district.
