** NYYRC's 111th Annual Gala | Introducing Representative Byron Donalds as a Speaker!
------------------------------------------------------------

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rep. Byron Donalds is the product of a single-parent household. Throughout his life, his mother made every sacrifice possible in order to give him the best opportunity at the American Dream. That philosophy his mother taught him, striving to leave future generations better than the current, is what leads him in his work, his home life, and as a Member of Congress.

Byron attended Florida State University and graduated in 2002 with a bachelor of arts degree in finance and marketing. Byron’s career path has included working in the finance, insurance, and banking industries in Southwest Florida.

When serving in the Florida House of Representatives, Byron chaired the prominent Insurance and Banking Subcommittee while also focusing on elder affairs, criminal justice reform, and striving to make sure each child in Florida has access to a world-class education. He received several recognitions, including being named a Champion of Economic Freedom by Americans for Prosperity and the Award for Conservative Excellence by the American Conservative Union Federation and honored by the Florida Council on Aging for his work preventing elder abuses in financial transactions. Governor Rick Scott also appointed Byron to the board of trustees for Florida Southwestern State College.

In 2020 and subsequently, in 2022, the people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District elected Byron to serve them in Congress. Since entering Capitol Hill, he’s been a firebrand for the conservative movement, freedom, and liberty. In his first term of Congress, Bryon served on the Committees on Oversight and Reform, the Budget, and Small Business. In the 118th Congress, Byron sits on the Oversight and Accountability and Financial Services Committees and the distinguished House Steering Committee as the Speaker Designee. As a rising star in the Republican Party, he has stood in the trenches aganist the rise of woke culture in schools, corporate America, the financial services industry, and our military. Byron is also a staunch advocate for the Second Amendment, School Choice, Fiscal Sanity, Secure Borders, Law and Order, and a Limited Federal Government.

Byron Donalds lives in Naples, Florida, with his wife, Erika, and their three sons, Damon, Darin, and Mason. Having spent his adult life in business, service, and leadership in his community, he will continue leading a prosperous and conservative Southwest Florida and fight for those same values in Washington, DC.

** Speaker Highlight: Nigel Farage
------------------------------------------------------------

Nigel Farage began his career in 1982 as a commodities trader at the London Metal Exchange and years later ran his own metals brokerage firm. He left a successful career behind to go into politics after the Conservative party signed the Maastricht Treaty, which advocated “ever closer union” between European nations. He became a founding member of UKIP in 1993 and set about campaigning for Britain’s EU withdrawal. In 2014, under Farage’s leadership, UKIP came first in the European election topping the poll in the UK with 4.5 million votes and in doing so became the first political party since 1906 to win a national election that was not the Labour or Conservative parties.

This successful result eventually forced the Conservative party to hold a referendum on European Union membership. In June 2016, Farage was a leading figure in the campaign to leave. This gained him the name “Mr. Brexit” by Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, whom he supported at a rally on the campaign trail. He was one of the very few that predicted that Trump would win the presidential election and was the first foreign politician to meet the newly elected President in Trump Tower days after his historic win.

Nigel stepped back from frontline politics, providing political analysis for Fox News and presenting a daily show on LBC radio and writing for the Daily Telegraph. In 2019, he was forced back into Westminster politics in order to stop the Brexit betrayal, founding his new ‘Brexit Party’ to win the May elections in just six weeks of campaigning. This made Nigel the only man in British political history to win two national elections with two different parties.

Nigel continues to hold the feet of the ruling Conservative party to the fire as a campaigner and political commentator across British and American media, notably as host of the prime-time TV show "Farage" on GB News.

The New York Young Republican Club is the oldest and largest Young Republican club in the United States, incorporated in 1911 with predecessor organizations dating to 1856.

On Saturday, December 9, we will hold our 111th Annual Gala, just as we have done through every major world event, including both World Wars and COVID-19, since our foundation. We are excited to welcome back both members and guests for a black-tie evening featuring Cipriani's signature Bellini upon arrival, an open bar featuring top-shelf liquor, butler-passed hors d’ouvres, and a multi-course French-service dinner as we hear from high-profile national speakers, mingle with honored guests, and discuss opportunities for the advancement of our mission.

The New York Young Republican Club continues to promote the future political leaders of America by advocating for their involvement in local government, as elected officials, and within major political organizations. The Club is officially recognized by the New York State Young Republicans, and Young Republican National Federation, as well as county, state, and national Republican committees.

The New York Young Republican Club was created in 1911 to promote and maintain the principles of the Republican Party. Our mission since then has been:

To promote and maintain the principles of the Republican Party: to foster within the Republican Party and make practical in service of the municipality, state and nation, the idealism characteristic of youth; to correct in our own party that tendency of all parties to make organization an end rather than a means; to develop sound principle and public spirit in party politics; to promote honest and fair electoral mentors, to the end that the expression of the popular will by whatever party or body, shall be as free, untrammeled and equal as possible; to resist and expose political corruption; to advocate merit rather than partisan service as entitling to public office; to watch legislation and encourage public attention to and efficiently criticize the conduct of government.
