In the last two weeks, House Republicans have devolved even further into chaos than we previously thought imaginable (and that’s saying something).
Instead of choosing a Speaker without delay so that we can get back to the business of governing, my GOP colleagues are fighting one another for the chance to impress an audience of one - Donald Trump. Let’s look at some of their contenders:
❌ Kevin McCarthy
❌ Steve Scalise
❌ Jim Jordan
Besides all running failed campaigns for Speaker (or to stay Speaker), these three also all voted to reject the 2020 election results in Pennsylvania and Arizona just hours after the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Suffice to say, House Republicans are not sending their best and brightest.
Here’s the thing - regardless of who’s going to climb out of this clown car next for the Speaker role (and we know it could be any one of the 100+ House Republicans who regularly put Trump above everything else - including the Constitution, the country, and the American people), it’s clear that the GOP is not fit to lead.
We have to do everything in our power to vote them out and take back the House in 2024.
