We can’t forget that 147 House Republicans voted in favor of overturning the 2020 election results and re-installing Donald Trump as president. Dozens of GOP Republicans cheered on the violent January 6, 2021 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

Now, House Republicans have removed their own leader, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), because he worked across the aisle to prevent a disastrous government shutdown.

As they try to nominate a new Speaker of the House, we are adamant that the Speaker cannot be someone who supported overturning the 2020 election results.

The House of Representatives has been without a Speaker of the House for nearly three weeks, and the race stretches on. 

There’s enough disorder in our world at large right now. We need the House of Representatives to step up and elect a trustworthy leader as Speaker of the House, not an insurrectionist liar.
