Dear Friend,
Unions up and down the country are using Labour Day to encourage
New Zealanders to join up as official members.
We're doing the same. The difference is that,
unlike the left-wing trade unions, we don't campaign for the Labour
Party, special interests, or favours. Instead, we oppose any and all
politicians who want to waste taxpayer money. Our team work hard every
day to fight for more transparency and accountability in Wellington
and in town halls across the country.
Government
spending is up 68 percent since 2017, driving up inflation, debt, and
worsening the cost-of-living crisis.
Unless
pushed to take some tough decisions to bring Government spending back
under control and to balance the books, a change of Government will
not be enough.Â
Even if Christopher Luxon manages to hammer out coalition
agreements that tackle wasteful spending, secure democratic
accountability, cut ineffective climate policies, and fix local
government,we all know that
governments can quickly lose their way.
Christopher Luxon already faces hostile voices in the media,
academia, left-wing "charities" and lobby groups, and other special
interests (often taxpayer-funded!).Â
That's why I'm emailing you today to ask you to join
the Taxpayers' Union and support our work fighting for a prosperous
New Zealand with efficient and transparent
government.
Your membership means we can continue to expose government waste,
campaign for you to keep more of your money, and promote
accountability across all levels of government.
The more members we have, the stronger and more credible the voice
for taxpayers becomes – that's why we need you, , to step up and
join.
Thank you for everything you do. I hope you can support our efforts
as a Taxpayers' Union member.
Have a great Labour Day,
