Williams Weekly
Dear Texans,
In our country and around the world, we are experiencing historical crises. Rest assured, I am fighting each day to keep our communities safe and uphold the values of our district. Read below for an update on my work serving you.
Standing With Israel
30 Americans have been killed by Hamas terrorists, and 13 are still missing, while over 1,000 Israelis have lost their lives, and more than 3,000 are injured. Now more than ever, we must stand with our closest ally, Israel. Our enemies must understand there is no place for them in this fight, while our allies should have confidence we will be there when they call.
Since the horrific attack by Hamas, I have led legation to condemn attacks while calling for the release of innocent hostages detained by these terrorists. I also joined legislation to block Iran from accessing the $6B in funds unfrozen by Biden Administration, and joined a letter to Biden asking him to boost Israel security and support the State, hold Iran accountable for funding Hamas, and impose maximum sanctions on Iran. We will continue to stand alongside our friends in this fight against hate and evil.
House Committee on Small Business Hearing
I led a hearing to examine the effects of the Department of Labor's rulemaking on Main Street. As America's job creators continue to fight to stay afloat in this difficult economic climate, agencies such as the Department of Labor continue to implement overreaching regulations, create expensive new compliance costs, and make it harder to hire new workers and expand their operations. As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I am committed to cutting the red tape that is hurting your bottom line and bringing affordability back to hardworking families and small business owners across America. Watch my opening statement here.
Condemning the CFPB's Attack on Main Street America
Small business owners are already facing increased borrowing costs and crushing inflation as the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to a 22-year high. The CFPB’s latest 1071 rule would only make it harder for existing business owners and entrepreneurs to access the capital they need. I applaud the Senate for passing S.J. Res. 32 to condemn the CFPB’s continued attack on Main Street America and I look forward to my companion bill, H.J. Res. 66, being brought to the House floor for a vote soon. In Case You Missed It!
I joined Mornings With Maria to discuss the top issues facing our nation. Instead of taking care of the greatest asset we have, the American people, the Biden Administration is acting as the Chamber of Commerce for terrorists. What we see happening in Israel could be the same thing happening in America if we don't secure our borders, restore law and order, and remove these bad actors. We cannot allow this evil to spread to our nation. Watch my full interview here.
In God we trust,
