Read our new blog summarizing a brand new report on the impacts of the Trump administration's public charge rule.

Hi Friend,

This January in a 5-4 split decision, the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority allowed the Trump administration’s “public charge” rule to be implemented even while litigation challenging the rule proceeds in the lower courts. Last week, the rule was implemented — and together with our allies and partners, we’ve been spreading the word to ensure that our communities stay informed about their rights.

Last week we also published a new report that documents the harm Trump’s wealth test caused even before it went into effect.

I wrote a blog post in “The Torch” summarizing the report’s findings. Read it here.

We’ve heard from our partners across the country that they’re having to work extra hard to help their clients, even those who aren’t technically affected by the public charge “test,” access vital nutrition and health care services to which they’re legally entitled.

Service providers have had to convince their clients to keep the health coverage they need to pay for crucial care and treatment, like an infant’s hospitalization, diabetes medication, or cancer treatment.

Let’s be clear: These are services we all should be able to access without fear, no matter where we come from or how much money we have.
