Hi Friend, This morning, I’m in Washington D.C. on the steps of the Supreme Court rallying alongside supporters of abortion rights to demand that abortion remain safe and accessible to everyone, regardless of zip code or income. You can watch what happened here. If you haven’t already heard, today, SCOTUS is hearing arguments in a case known as June Medical Services v. Russo. The subject of the case is a Louisiana state law that attempts to shutter nearly all abortion clinics by mandating they obtain burdensome, unnecessary, and unrealistic admitting privileges at local hospitals. If the Court sides with Louisiana, it could set a dangerous precedent for similar laws to be enacted in other states, with the legitimacy of SCOTUS precedent. I won’t take this lying down. Not after Nevadans worked so hard this past legislative session to pass SB179, the Trust Nevada Women Act, which protected the right to an abortion. Even if you’re not in D.C. today, you can join me by sharing your story on social media, using the hashtag, #MyRightMyDecision and calling on SCOTUS to do the right thing for abortion rights by striking down this terrible Louisiana law. Click here to tweet and get the word out about this alarming and critical case. Fight alongside me today, Annette Magnus Executive Director |
