RE: Path to Victory 2020

What a night!

Senator Cornyn was reelected overwhelmingly as the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, receiving more than 1.2 million more votes than his nearest competitor… earning more than 76% of votes in a 5-way race!
Almost a hundred thousand more Republicans voted in the U.S. Senate primary than in the Democrat primary.
The #TXSEN Democrats are likely going into a RECOUNT before they head into their RUN-OFF.
In what is supposed to be a two-person race, the Democrats still have three candidates – with “Undecided” remaining the frontrunner.
77% of Democrat voters rejected Chuck Schumer’s handpicked candidate.
Sanders and Biden are virtually tied… and actually agree on more than voters know (more on this below!).

I am grateful to everyone who knocked on doors, made phone calls, hosted events and spread the word that we need to keep Senator Cornyn fighting for us in the U.S. Senate! Our campaign is working closely Republicans running up and down the ticket, and has put together an incredible grassroots machine that helped propel us to victory.

Now the real work begins…

The stage is set for the greatest referendum of our lifetimes:

Will Americans choose Bernie-style socialism… or Will they choose freedom and prosperity?

OUTLOOK: SENATE RACE

We always knew there would be a run-off. But even after the election last night, we don’t know who will be in in it yet – Hollywood Hegar vs. Rut Roh Royce or AOCristina.

Hegar is Chuck Schumer’s handpicked choice and admitted voting for northeastern liberal, Elizabeth Warren, for president. In a race where the majority of Democrats didn’t know anything about their candidates, Hegar’s pick for Warren gives voters a window into how she would vote on key issues.

Despite getting in the race first, having the backing of the entire DC Democratic and Hollywood elite, plus $3.5 million in SuperPAC ads Hegar didn’t even receive a quarter of the Democrat vote! No doubt the elites must be questioning their investment this morning.

More on her policies: Hollywood Hegar wants to expand Obamacare, use taxpayer funds for Planned Parenthood, and says climate change is her #1 priority. She was against President Trump’s actions to protect our nation by taking out Qassem Soleimani, a terrorist who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans.

After a likely recount, Hollywood Hegar will face either #AOCristina Tzintzún Ramirez or “Ruh Roh” Royce West in the May run-off.

Austin community activist, Tzintzún Ramirez, is trying to pick-up where Beto left off and Bernie begins –embracing every facet of Medicare-for-None, the Green New Deal, “free” college, and guaranteed federal jobs for all. She wants labor unions at the head of the negotiation table for trade deals, and has been endorsed by the most liberal members of Congress – AOC and Joaquin Castro. This embrace by The Squad inspired her nickname: AOCristina, and she thinks anyone who doesn’t share her radical views are “nonbelievers.”

Royce West wants to expand Obamacare by rolling back President Trump’s tax cuts, and stands with Wendy Davis to promote taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and on-demand abortions.

The Far Left’s agenda promoted by these candidates is in stark contrast to Senator Cornyn’s strong record fighting for all Texans.

The Center for Effective Lawmaking named Senator Cornyn one of the top five most effective Republican Senators.

Passing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – helping families and businesses keep more of what they earn
Authoring the Affordable Prescriptions for Patients Act – lowering the cost of prescription drugs by preventing pharmaceutical companies from gaming the patent system
Leading the charge to confirm conservative judges across the nation – 190 nationally, 21 in Texas – plus two Supreme Court Justices!
Sponsoring and passing the Fix NICS Act – an overwhelmingly bipartisan effort supported Second Amendment, domestic violence, and law enforcement groups that enhances compliance and ensures accuracy of existing background check systems for firearm purchases
Sponsoring and passing the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act – cracking down on human trafficking and providing care and justice to survivors, especially children, of trafficking

A testament to his statewide grassroots support, Senator Cornyn has more than 44,000 donors and received thousands of endorsements from Texans – including organizations like the Texas Farm Bureau AGFUND and Texas Alliance for Life.

OUTLOOK: PRESIDENTIAL RACE

There’s no question that both party’s presidential candidate is going to have a profound impact down ballot. As of now, the Democratic nomination for president is also undecided. Despite their differences in style, Sanders and Biden actually agree on more than voters know.

Since announcing his candidacy for President in the Democrat Primary, Biden has voiced support for plans or policies that most Texans would find extreme, including;

Monday night in Dallas, Biden even declared that Beto O'Rourke would lead his anti-gun agenda. This is the same Beto who refused to challenge Senator Cornyn after he tacked so far to the Left that even he knew he stood no chance at winning statewide in Texas again. The idea that 2020 Joe Biden – after spending months embracing the Far Left’s ideas in an effort to keep up with Bernie – is some moderate alternative is laughable. For Senator Cornyn and candidates around the country, in effect, running against Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden will be virtually identical.

Why President Trump Will Win

The U.S. has added more than 7 million jobs since President Trump was elected. – The unemployment rate remained near generational lows at 3.6%. – We’re seeing the fastest wage growth for low- and middle-income Americans. – And unemployment is at a record low for all workers, especially women and minorities.

We have a new and improved trade agreement in the USMCA. – We’re experiencing a Blue Collar Boom!

A recent Gallup poll shows 90% of Americans say they are living a happy and fulfilled life – the highest in four decades.

Under President Trump’s leadership, we’ve confirmed 190 new, conservative judges – including 21 here in Texas – plus, two Supreme Court justices. The conservative transformation of our courts will be President Trump’s single greatest legacy.

President Trump has rebuilt our military after years of neglect by the Obama Administration. He has also made consequential changes to our criminal justice system rooted in fairness, second chances, and rectifying disparities.

PATH TO VICTORY 2020

With the momentum gained last night, Team Cornyn is going to continue to build and run a strong grassroots campaign – drawing in new people to our party, including young and diverse voters. We are organizing in every corner of our state and ceding no ground.

Senator Cornyn is respected by his colleagues as a thoughtful, conscientious leader. Texans know he cares deeply about the future of our state and country and will work for commonsense conservative solutions for the challenges we face.

We are projecting that turnout will be around 11.6 million voters. In 2014 – which was Senator Cornyn’s last race – there were only 4.6 million voters that turned out to vote. This means in order for Senator Cornyn to win, he will need more votes to win in 2020 than were cast in 2014.

In 2018, Texas lost 2 Congressional seats, 2 State Senate seats and 12 State House seats. We are only 9 seats away from losing the majority in the Texas House. The National Pool exit polls in 2018 showed that 38% of Texans identify themselves as Republicans and 34% identify themselves as Democrats only giving Texans a 4% advantage.

There were 6 Republican Congressional seats that had a 5% victory or less. These are all now being targeted by the DCCC in 2020.

Democrats showed their true potential in 2018 through Beto’s field game. Look for them to use this momentum and a new volunteer bench to correct their mistakes and really challenge us in 2020.

As we set our sights on November, are taking nothing for granted. Ours is an effort that is inclusive, positive, optimistic, forward looking… the kind of leadership and message that will help Republicans up and down the ballot as well.
