Crouch, Mitchell & IACcelebrate 2020 Hoosier Women Artists

*STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2020) *Today, Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Treasurer Kelly Mitchell and the Indiana Arts Commission hosted a reception to celebrate the 2020 Hoosier Women Artists exhibition at the Statehouse.

Being able to promote female artists throughout our state each year brings me such pride and joy, Crouch said. We had so many incredible pieces of art submitted, and I cannot wait to have them displayed in my office. There are so many talented Hoosier women and I want them all to continue to share their artistic talents with others."

The Hoosier Women Artists program was established in 2008 to celebrate the importance of the arts in Indianas communities and showcase the work of talented female artists throughout the state. The annual exhibition was announced in January, and todays 46 honorees were selected out of more than 112 entries. The entries were judged by a panel of visual Indiana arts professionals and then selected for display by Crouch and Mitchell.

The panelists include:

* Alex Hall, Artist, Fort Wayne
* Sayaka Ganz, Artist, Fort Wayne
* Karen Baldner, Artist/Professor, IUPUI Herron, Indianapolis

As always, the amount of talent and creativity Hoosier women possess and display is impressive, Mitchell said. I am honored to celebrate their skill by displaying these beautiful works of art in our office during the coming year."

The 46 pieces of artwork will be displayed in the offices of: Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Treasurer of State Kelly Mitchell, Secretary of State Connie Lawson, Auditor of State Tera Klutz, Chief Justice Loretta Rush and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick, as well as at the Governor's Residence in honor of the First Lady.
