John,

We know your inboxes are brimming with post-election analyses and thank you messages. We had thirteen Featured Candidates in primary elections last night! Eleven won! We are so proud of them and their campaign teams for their hard work. We feel nothing but gratitude today that these brave women put themselves on the line for the progressive values we all care about: quality education for our children, an economy that works for us all, a clean environment and a woman's right to make her own reproductive choices.

Of our thirteen Featured Candidates, four were incumbents running for re-election. All four won! We're thrilled these women will go on to continue to represent Democrats in the NCGA and Council of State.

We had nine Featured Candidates vying for new seats in competitive primaries. Each of these woman ran a strong campaign and we are proud to have them in the Lillian's List Sisterhood. We are sad to see Charlotte Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera lost her race for State Treasurer. The race was very close, showing how much of an impact she made on North Carolina. Jen Mangrum handily won her five-way primary and we're thrilled she has become the Democratic nominee for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Lieutenant Governor Race: This was a six-way primary and we were proud to endorse two women running for this seat who had long been in the Lillian's List Sisterhood: Rep. Yvonne Holley and Sen. Terry Van Duyn. Both of these candidates have always been huge supporters of reproductive rights and were running strong campaigns. We are proud that they were the top two candidates in the race, voters certainly had a hard choice between the two. Rep. Holley earned approximately 70,000 more votes than Sen. Van Duyn. However, reports indicate that this race could be headed to a runoff between the two of them. Voters clearly want a pro-choice, progressive woman for their next Lieutenant Governor and we couldn't agree more. [link removed]

All of our candidates running for the General Assembly won their seats! Julie Mayfield and Natalie Murdock won their competitive primaries and will go on to what is considered a safe general election. We are looking forward to being able to call these two women "Senator." Senate candidate Sarah Crawford also handily won her primary and will go on to a very competitive general election as she works to flip the last Republican seat in Wake County. House candidates Marcia Morgan and Aimy Steele trounced their opponents and are now preparing to fight to flip the majority in the NC House.

All in all, we're happy with the results of the primary election for our candidates. We are grateful to all of them for running and their teams for working so hard. We are also grateful to your for your support of our Lillian's List Featured Candidates!

Thank you,

Team Lillian
Sarah, Laura, Devon, Taylor, and Deborah
