Friend,
Over the last two weeks, we’ve shared in the world’s grief as we witness the events unfolding in Israel and Gaza.
Thousands have lost their lives in this wave of violence. More than 1,300 Israelis were killed by Hamas’ attacks on October 7th and hundreds have been held hostage. Over 4,000 Palestinians – including 1,600 children – have been killed since Israel’s military escalated its siege on Gaza.
We’re horrified by the scale of violence taking place, and the answer cannot be more death. The relentless assault on Gaza must end and the hostages must be returned.
We can’t stand by while the U.S. government attempts to spend billions on the Israeli military’s displacement and bombing of 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza.
The moral call is clear: We must stop further loss of life and call for a ceasefire now.
Please sign on to demand a ceasefire now – send a message to your member of Congress urging them to support the house resolution demanding an “immediate de-escalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine” and to send humanitarian aid and assistance to Gaza.
President Biden has been asking Congress for billions to fund Israel’s efforts – all while the Israeli government has cut off food, water, fuel, electricity, and medicine to Gaza and refused to allow humanitarian aid to trapped Palestinians. As the death toll rises in Gaza, we refuse to be complicit in this violence.
What’s happening is unconscionable – and many of our political leaders are supporting this violence and calling for more of our money to fund military weapons for Israel. We’re encouraged by the thousands who are rising up to protest and demand a ceasefire, and we know it’s going to take all of our voices to stop the violence.
This moment calls for us to do everything we can to save as many lives as possible and protect children and families. Will you join us by demanding your Congress Member support the resolution calling for an “immediate de-escalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine” and send humanitarian aid to people in Gaza?
In solidarity,
NY Communities for Change
