john — If you’ve felt like the news out of Washington lately has been especially tiring and chaotic, you’re not alone.

In the last few weeks, the House GOP has been utterly dysfunctional. And while Democrats and Republicans might not always agree on the issues, the partisanship of late has been especially fierce.

First, House Republicans nearly sent our federal government into a shutdown. At the 11th hour, they came up with a resolution — but one that lasts only 45 days, meaning we’re facing another potential shutdown next month.

Then, a far-right contingent of representatives ousted Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Why? Hard to say. Their preferred alternative? Also hard to say. The House of Representatives has been without a Speaker for weeks now, and congressional Republicans are fighting amongst themselves over who should lead their caucus. Each nominee brought forward is more extreme than the next!

john, the level of dysfunction of late is quite disheartening. Senate Democrats are confirming judges across the country, supporting the labor movement, and working across the aisle to tackle the mental health crisis. Meanwhile, progress is at a standstill in the House of Representatives.

We need a reset, folks. It’s time for House Republicans to put the chaos behind them and move on.

But above all else, we need to protect our Democratic Senate Majority — because if not for our caucus, who knows how much more stagnant our government would be. Please, pitch in $10 or anything you can spare to help me defend our majority.

Thank you for hearing me out — and let’s hope the House GOP gets their act together!
