How it's going: ABC News: Alabama congressional map to include 2nd district for Black voters after lengthy legal fight (October 5, 2023) | Your grassroots support helped make this happen! FIRST: The Supreme Court struck down Alabama’s congressional map for discriminating against Black voters. BUT: Republicans openly defied the Supreme Court by refusing to implement fair districts. SO THEN: Fair maps advocates didn’t give up – instead, our movement continued fighting for fairness. NOW: Alabama will have a new, fair map in the 2024 election – a huge victory for voters across the nation.

In spite of the shameful intransigence of Alabama Republicans, justice has finally prevailed in the state. With this new, fairer map, and for the first time ever, black voters in Alabama could have two members of Congress representing their interests. – Attorney General Eric Holder | Victories like this wouldn't be possible without supporters like you. But now, we need to keep going. The Hill: Democrats and Republicans are bracing for a series of redistricting challenges that could have major implications for which party controls the House in 2024.
