Early today an initial 20 trucks of
urgently needed food, medicine, and water moved through the border
crossing from Egypt to Gaza, after days of negotiations to allow their
passage.
Even though limited aid has started to move, it is a drop in an ocean of
need, and will not come close to providing the scale of help urgently
needed by two million people who are cut off from food, water, fuel, and
other essentials.

This week, Mercy Corps released a joint statement with more than 300
organizations calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and
Israel to prevent further loss of life. Together, we called on all Heads
of State, the UN Security Council, and actors on the ground to facilitate
the delivery of urgently needed aid and prioritize preserving human life
above all else.
As this unfathomable humanitarian crisis deepens, our team members in
Egypt and Gaza are preparing to deliver immediate aid — clean water, food,
hygiene supplies, and shelter materials — as soon as it is possible and
safe to do so.
