ACLU Supporter, I have good news and bad news to share. The bad news: We fell short of the $100,000 we'd hoped to raise to protect LGBTQ rights yesterday. With hundreds of anti-LGBTQ pieces of legislation moving across the states, with hate and violence against trans people escalating, with attacks on the LGBTQ community at every turn – I'm concerned about our resources to tackle these fights head on. That's why I'm excited to report the good news: We've extended our goal until 11:59pm EST. tonight so we can make up this shortfall. We simply cannot get there without you, so if you've been waiting for the right moment to make your first gift, this is it. Please, help us hit this goal by making a donation of $35. All October, we celebrate LGBTQ History Month. Because when so many people attempt to erase our existence, commemorating this history is crucial. Decade after decade, we've made consequential progress for LGBTQ liberties. So many people now live openly, authentically, and freely. But far too many LGBTQ people live in fear in America. They face bullying, violence, and outright discrimination. Trans people, especially, are being disproportionately targeted by hateful legislation, threats, and violence. Our work is not finished until every member of the LGBTQ community is protected and safe. So as we ask for your support, ACLU Supporter, think about the trans kids who are being denied health care. Think about the LGBTQ youth who are being robbed of books that endorse and amplify their own identities. Think about a gay couple who walks into a business and is discriminated against. Think about members of the LGBTQ community too afraid to live freely because of the hate and violence they encounter daily. This fight is for them. So please, help us hit this urgent goal by chipping in a donation right now. Thank you, Anthony D. Romero |
