This week, I was very proud to work with a bipartisan group of colleagues in the House and Senate in introducing the Adult Education Workforce Opportunity and Reskilling for Knowledge and Success (WORKS) Act. At current funding levels, adult education programs serve about 1.1 million people, while there are 43 million adults who stand to benefit from literacy programs and 62.7 million in need of numeracy programs. With so many adults at low literacy and numeracy rates, it is crucial that we provide them an option to gain the skills they need to succeed. This bipartisan bill would support American workers and expand economic opportunity and mobility for millions by investing in adult education. To learn more, read this press release from my office. |
