I don’t know whether or not we made history last night.
 
I do know that our performance has shocked the establishment.
 
I know that the political insiders didn’t expect a 1-term City Councilmember to break through the noise of partisan politics and overcome the institutional advantages that fueled my party-backed opponents.
 
But whether we pull a victory out or not, there’s no doubt that we broke through. And whatever the outcome, I will continue to work for accountability and transparency at City Hall with a focus on getting to the bottom of the 101 Ash scandal, enforcing the law against STRs and getting SDSU West done to fulfill the intent of the voters.
 
We got this far because San Diegans from all political stripes joined our campaign, worked tirelessly to support our campaign, and contributed so generously to propel this campaign.
 
I honestly don’t know whether we are going to pull this off or not.
 
But I do know, this campaign has been a huge success that I owe to you and the voters of San Diego.
