Dear John,

Our community joined as one at the Scranton Jewish Community Center to demonstrate our solidarity with Israel and to mourn alongside our neighbors and friends.

I will do all that I can to ensure our strongest ally in the Middle East has the resources to restore and maintain the security of all citizens.

That’s why I coauthored a House Resolution with both Democrats and Republicans condemning this unprovoked attack.

I continue to pray for those killed, missing and wounded, and for the families and communities that have been torn apart by the senseless savagery committed by Hamas.

Supporting Local Law Enforcement

Bringing our fair share of federal tax dollars back to our region is the main reason I ran for Congress, and investing in first responders is a direct investment in public safety.

That is why I am proud to announce $155,600 that I secured through a grant program from the Department of Justice will be coming back to NEPA to support local law enforcement agencies in Monroe, Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.

As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating to support police, firefighters and all first responders to provide them what they need when it comes to protecting our community.

All Aboard!

The USS Scranton

Last week, I was honored to meet Commander Jeff Ransom, and about a dozen crewmembers of the USS Scranton, as they visited Scranton City Hall.

This Los Angeles-class, fast-attack submarine was built in 1986, she is 362 feet long and carries a crew complement of 140.

Commander Ransom is carrying on a proud family tradition of captaining United States Navy submarines. His father commanded a sub in the 1980s and his grandfather did so in the 1950s – 60s.

Above is the challenge coin that Commander Ransom handed me when we met this week. You can imagine my delight at seeing the railroad theme!

A New Police Headquarters

In Jenkins Township

It was great to be in Jenkins Twp. to celebrate the opening of their new police station.

We’re lucky to have such capable and dedicated police officers who are always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty, and they deserve the best equipment, training and resources available to do their jobs effectively.

Our entire community greatly appreciates our men and women in blue who put on their uniform every day to ensure the safety of our children, families and friends.

Congratulations to the Jenkins Twp. Police Department and to Police Chief Frank Mudlock, who has honorably served the department for more than 38 years.
