Republican Chaos in the House
House Democrats, and many House Republicans, have repeatedly rejected MAGA extremist Jim Jordan's attempts to claim the Speakership. To put it bluntly, Jim Jordan has no interest in governing, and has not passed a single bill into law in 16 years in Congress. It is clear that House Republicans must work with Democrats to find a bipartisan path forward.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Visits Kankakee
I was honored to welcome U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to Kankakee to discuss the Biden-Harris Administration's support for Illinois farmers. Secretary Vilsack and I discussed the work the USDA is doing to allocate funds made available to farmers by the Inflation Reduction Act. This funding will strengthen local farming, protect supply chain resilience, and create economic opportunity in our rural communities.
October 27th Hiring Event

On October 27th from 9:00AM-12:00PM, join my office for our annual IL-02 Hiring Event. Employers in attendance will cover a diverse range of industries and are looking to help residents of IL-02 start new careers or build on existing ones. You can pre-register HERE.
October 23rd Community Vaccine Clinic

Now is the time to get your flu vaccine and this year's COVID-19 vaccine. My office is participating in a community vaccine clinic popup on October 23 at the Matteson Community Center from 11:00am - 2:30pm. Please bring proof of insurance if applicable.
October 28th HHS M.O.M.S. Tour
The Department of Health and Human Services M.O.M.S. Tour (Maternal Outcomes Matter Shower) will be coming to the district on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The event is scheduled to take place at Corliss S.T.E.M. High School, 821 East 103rd Street, Chicago, IL 60628 from 11:30am to 1:30pm. The Department of Health and Human Services has specifically designed this event to support expectant mothers and moms with children under two years old in communities facing high maternal mortality and morbidity rates. At The M.O.M.S. Tour, HHS will coordinate resources and informational sessions for new and expectant mothers, along with exciting activities for kids and dads to enjoy.
